Elvish

Elvish is a language generally associated with Elves, though it is still spoken in both formal and informal varieties across the Meridán Region.

Distribution and Varieties

Elvish, in it's original form, was the native language of the Sea Elves, and prior to the spread of Common Leonic during the Turf Wars, it was used frequently as a lingua franca across the Meridán Region.

After the disappearance of the Sea Elves, Elvish largely disappeared as a vernacular language. It's original form was preserved in two places; as the liturgical language of Orthodox Leonism, and as an academic language. In both cases it is now called Classical Elvish. This is to distinguish it from other dialects of Elvish still spoken by small disconnected groups across the Imperial States, which are collectively referred to as Bastard Elvish.
